Academy is a powerful curriculum that
develops traditional, digital, and
audio-visual communication skills
in the arts and sciences while expanding
comprehension of academic subjects
and preparing students for 21st century
skills
The diverse worlds of entertainment,
the arts, politics and commerce each
depend heavily on audio-visual communication
media. In the 21st century there will
be a steady demand for people who
are skilled in using the vocabulary
of images and sound and who understand
the technologies this communication
is based on.
The Media Academy will provide students
with skills and knowledge to become
gainfully employed in the entertainment
industry while they continue with
their post-secondary education. Students
will learn the art of self-discipline
and teamwork while building self-confidence
through the production of a finished
product. A cadre of trained and enthusiastic
teachers will provide the energy and
expertise to collaborate in developing
materials bringing to life the fundamentals
of communication, history, science
and language-arts through interactive
participation.
Students follow a sequence of classes
with a commitment beginning in the
ninth or tenth grades, continuing
until graduation. All efforts are
made to accommodate students with
interest in Honors, Advanced Placement,
Advanced Studies, Athletics and Music
classes and/or programs.
