Parent Center Homepage
The community representative works with school staff, including counselors, Title I Coordinator, EL designee, Title III Coach, Newcomer Coach, Instructional Coach, and a-g Counselors to provide families with information on topics such as the a-g requirements, California School Dashboard, LCAP, the Long Term English Learner (LTEL) support electives, and the process for English Learners to reclassify.
The Parent Center hosts sessions where school staff members discuss intervention programs that are available onsite, such as mental health counseling, tutoring, and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) prep courses.
Additionally, the community representative invites local agencies and businesses to conduct parent workshops. Some of these organizations include Tarzana Treatment Center, Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, and Providence Hospital. Past sessions include Bullying, Financial Literacy, CPR and First Aid, Women’s Health, Stress Management, Mental Health Workshop, and High School and a-g Requirements.
Through the Parent Center, families have access to information on community resources that can provide them with additional support. This includes flyers and brochures on health and social services, PTA-affiliated vision and dental clinics, special education laws, safety issues, and other community resources.
