What if I am absent?
When students are absent make sure they return with a note from a parent or gaurdian. The note should be turned into the attendance office before school on the day they return. Please refer to the LAUSD district guidelines for what is considered an excused absence. Also, please refer to the Cleveland handbook for Cleveland's policy for participation in school activities as it relates to attendance.
What if I am late to school?
Students who arrive late to school must sign in at the security station in front of the school before proceeding to the Attendance Office or the Tardy Slip Kiosk for a tardy pass. Students with a valid tardy excuse from their parent or legal guardian should proceed to the Attendance Office. Those without a valid written tardy excuse from their parent or legal guardian will need to proceed to a kiosk for a Tardy Slip. All written excuses are subject to verification by Cleveland Attendance Office staff. Every three tardies equals one hour of detention. Students must clear detentions as soon as possible to avoid further consequences such as not being able to participate in extracurricular school activities. It is the student’s responsibility to complete assigned detention hours.
What if my Magnet Bus is running late?
If a Magnet bus is delayed the students will check in with the attendance office when they arrive for an excused tardy pass to class.
What if I need to leave school early?
Early leave request notes need to be turned into the Attendance Office in the morning so we can process the request. The note should include the students full name, date of birth or student ID#, parent/guardian full name, signature and phone number, time student will be picked up, and reason the student is leaving early. The Attendance Office will call to verify the note. We can not release a student to anyone not listed on the student's emergency card. Additionally the person picking up the student must have a current photo ID.
