The 80s The decade f the 1980s was a very important decade. This decade had a president get shot. One if the most famous walls had toppled to pieces. The Rubik's Cube arrived it became the symbol of the 80s. Ronald Reagan was the president of the U.S. from 1981-1989 and was governor of California from 1967-1975. He survived an attempted assassination by a man named John Hinckley. The attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan only helped his campaigning by giving him the image of "The man who could not be stopped by bullets". Ronald Reagan was most famous for negotiating the grip that the Soviet Union had over East Germany. The Berlin wall was constructed in 1961and was destroyed on November 9 th 1989. The Soviet Union constructed the wall after the end of WWII, to separate West Germany from East Germany to weaken the resolve of the German people. Over 100 miles of concrete was poured to construct the massive 14-foot wall the split a nation apart. Than on November 9 th 1989 the Soviet Union released the grip it had over East Germany. That night thousands of sledge hammers and chisels took the monstrous wall down. For negotiating the release of East Germany presidentRonald Reagan took himself home a small section of the wall, it currently stands at the Ronald Reagan Public Library. The Rubik's cube was a 3x3x3 cube that had 6 solid colors on 54boxes. A man named Erno Rubik invented the cube. The cube's original name was "The Magic Cube". When the Rubik's cube challenged the wit of America becoming an instant sensation. The Rubik's cube became so popular that it became the untold symbol of the 80's. Rubik's cubes now come in various shapes and sizes, such as the 4x4x4, 2x2x2, and the 5x5x5. Other models of the Rubik's cube include different faces to contort and displace and try to get back together. Currently there are 300,000,000 Rubik's cube's trying to be solved today. The 1980s was one of the most important decades because of all the important events that happened within it. From attempted assassinations of the president to the collapse of a famous wall, allowing the 80's to be the best decade. |
